Bob Bode Owner and Driver Bob Bode has been racing most of his life. He experienced the thrill of winning but learned about the dedication, focus and professionalism necessary to win while racing on the professional level during his twenty years power boat racing under the American Power Boat Association (APBA).
In the 1980's, his circle boat racing career peaked when he captured two Super Stock National Championships as a hired driver. Bob then moved up to the top of the class of the APBA circle boats, K Racing Runabouts (Blown Alcohol Circle Boat) in the 1990's as an owner/driver of his own race team. Bob was “Rookie of the Year” in 1990 and during his remaining years racing K-boats, won several local and regional events including the Eastern Divisional Champion Title.
Inspired after attending an NHRA event in 1999, Bob's imagination and racing desire was again fueled by nitro funny car racing and he immediately knew that this was his next racing venue. Bob spent two years acquiring the needed racing equipment and formed his own nitro funny car race team.
In February and March of 2001, Bob earned his NHRA funny car license and made his debut in the nitro funny car racing class in Atlanta later that season. He went on to race nine events, qualifying a strong 12th in Brainerd and 15th in Las Vegas. Bob recorded his career best ET (elapsed time) of 4.80 seconds @ 313 mph in Joliet, Illinois in June of 2006. This event was host to the fastest field of entries in Nitro Funny Car racing history.
